Everyone loves a sunset, and the artist pays close attention to the minute changes in color from pink to lavender to gold to blue....and sometimes green! People tell me that sunsets are blue and orange! At this point I carefully show them the subtle color changes with words or in paint. I hope that you enjoy these different approaches to the many sunsets that God has given us. There is one every night somewhere!

It is my latest desire to paint things that create an emotion, like crashing waves. Each painting has its own design and power....liking unto thepowerful waves that crash against the shore.

Sunrise in the Harbour

Original watercolor painting:22" x 30"

Another sunrise scene from the San Diego Harbour. This is an older boat and the shape interested me as much as the colors of the sunrise. I find that sunrises and sunsets are challenging in watercolor. Before one knows it the colors can be much too garrish, but with many layers of transparent colors I could achieve a stopping point before it got out of hand. Enjoy.

Each time I vacation on the west coast of Florida, everyone gathers for cocktails at sunset. This is how I remember it.

Full Moon Rising

Skies and their moods have suddenly become a challenge that I am determined to conquer in watercolor. The colors fascinate me. The moods that I can create give me great pleasure.
